I am an ecologist with Parks Canada, based in the Western and Northern Service Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. My research is focused on the Arctic and Subarctic regions of northern Canada. I am specifically interested in studying ecological changes in freshwater ecosystems in these high-latitude regions. Lakes, ponds, wetlands, rivers and streams are key features in northern landscapes, and are important indicators of environmental change in these climatically and ecologically sensitive areas.

Currently, my research is focused on:

  • Classifiying freshwater ecosystems in northern parks to help understand the spatial diversity and ecological variability of freshwater habitats within a park and the surrounding landscape.
  • Development of protocols to effectively monitor the ecological integrity of northern freshwater ecosystems.
  • Understanding the impacts of past and present environmental change on aquatic ecosystems in the north.
